Powrmatic, Inc., located near Baltimore, Maryland, is a well-known, long established manufacturer of Heating and Air Cleaning Equipment for the industrial and commercial heater and air cleaner marketplace.

Powrmatic manufactures a complete line of direct-fired and indirect-fired heaters as well as media and electrostatic air cleaners to accommodate most customers' needs.

History

Powrmatic goes back to 1912 when the two Stamm brothers opened a store to sell coal range in New York City. The business rapidly expanded into central heating steam boilers and stokers. Later, the Stamm brothers were among the pioneers of modern oil heating.

Powrmatic took out the original patent on the first mechanical draft oil burner in 1927. The line of oil-fired equipment developed from this patent won a rousing reception at the 1932 Chicago heating show.

That modest beginning led to Powrmatic's present position as one of the world's leading suppliers of heating systems using gas, oil and combined gas/oil-firing for all types of industrial and commercial applications. Arthur Stamm, son of brother John, is now president of the Stamm International Group, Powrmatic's parent company, with manufacturing plants in Finksburg, Maryland, Montreal Canada, and Illminster, England.
